The Dornier DO 27 was originally designed in Spain in 1955. It seated 4-6 people and is a single engine STOL light utility craft. It has a classic high wing, with fixed landing gear and is a tail-dragger. The plane had a wide, comfortable cabin, great visibility and excellent short field performance. Probably the most interesting color scheme for planes in this class was the Zebra Scheme used in Africa. A total of 628 DO-27's were built.

And although it wasn't designed to be a trainer plane, it is so easy to fly that it makes a great first aileron plane.
